The Rufous Hornero (furnarius rufus) is Argentina’s national bird. They build oven-shaped nests of clay and vegetation. Its English name is the “Red Ovenbird”. They are found across much of the southern part of South America, east of the Andes. Rufous means “reddish brown”. To me, they are a lucky bird and lucky for me, I see them all the time.
