According to American Etiquette and Rules of Politeness, published in 1883 and written by Mr. Walter R. Houghton, when you receive a favor and wish to acknowledge it, say, “I thank you” instead of “thanks”. Use of the word “thanks” is a vulgarism and has been overly used. In spite of Mr. Walter R. Houghton’s views on the subject, today is a day we give thanks.
We at Smith-Obolensky Media wish to say, “I thank you” and wish you well going forward.
