The Rambla

This road/pedestrian walkway runs along the edge of Montevideo. It stretches for 13.7  miles along the water’s edge. It is the longest continuous sidewalk in the world. In summer, many Uruguayans are up early, sitting on benches or resting at the beach, drinking mate, and watching the sun rise. Sometimes, they have not gone to bed. Dinners often begin after ten at night in the Spanish tradition.
