In 2020 I had an interview with Lou Diamond, host of ThriveLOUD.
In this quote, I reference “state space”.
Most people have agendas… they focus on what they’re trying to do. My belief is that life will tell you what it wants. People never bother to ask, because they never sit down and listen to life, because life tells you all the time what it wants from you. And if you don’t recognize it, it’s because you are so focused on what it is you are doing. You have an agenda. And, frankly, the amount of information that you have—I mean even if we look at it in a scientific view, the state space outside is far vaster than your little world inside can possibly be. It is not possible to have a one-on-one correspondence on that. The information is on the outside. So what you need to do is… to let events take their course, let things take their course and just watch and all of a sudden you find that opportunities surround you.
In my 2015 article, “Isolation and Social Media”, I explained state space in the context referenced above.
The full interview is posted on my Interviews page. (Note that when talking about Isabel Allende, her interview was with Pablo Neruda, the poet. I gave another name.)
