You can make a tonic by using stinging nettles which help to cleanse the system. It may also help with rheumatism and arthritic pains. Chop up a handful of young nettle leaves and infuse in 2 ½ cups of boiling water. Infuse and sip while still warm.

Basil is calming to the nervous system and it helps relieve nausea. Use 3-4 large clean leaves per 1 cup of water.

Infusion for sore throat

Lemon has antibacterial properties, so this remedy will help you if you have a sore throat:

Take 3 clean lemon leaves and place into a cup of boiling water. Turn off the heat and leave pan covered for 10 minutes. Add honey if desired and sip slowly while still warm.


Teas for coughs and colds

Use equal amount of purple sage and thyme and add ¼ tsp of cayenne pepper, which has antibacterial properties.

At the onset of a cold, for 1 cup of water use ½ tsp of each: peppermint, elderflower and chamomile with a pinch of lavender. After it is infused, add a pinch of ground ginger, 1 tsp of honey and a dash of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Sip while warm.
