The subject of viruses has been on many people’s minds of late and with good reason.
Because some viruses can be deadly, one might wish to exterminate them, and yet aside from their occasional lethality to humans, they provide a vital role in the environment that few realize. They also happen to be the most numerous life-form on this planet and help keep bacteria in check. I wrote an article in 2016 called “Long-Term Friends”. (It is also available in Spanish.)
It is my hope that the reader might gain an insight into where viruses stand in relation to life on earth, and how the relationship between viruses and humans might become closer and more symbiotic over the coming years.
